Life Cell Imaging Center at the Institute of Cell Biology and Biosystems Technique

The Life Cell Imaging Center in Rostock combines all techniques needed for quantitative live cell imaging at highest temporal and spatial resolution and for micromanipulation. It is unique through its specialization with Allen Video-Enhanced DIC microscopy.

Imaging Light Microscopy

  1. 1. Phase contrast, differential interference contrast, dark field and fluorescence microscopy (several setups)
  2. 2. Video rate confocal laser scanning microscopy
  3. 3. Video-enhanced contrast microscopy according to Allen (AVEC), (highest resolution, 3 setups)
  4. 4. Video-intensified microscopy (VIM), (low light imaging, video rate and slow scan systems, 3 setups)
  5. 5. Supravital UV-video microscopy (DNA imaging)
  6. 6. Fluorescence-In-Situ-Hybridization (FISH)

Measuring Light Microscopy

  1. 7. Ratio imaging (Ca2+, ions, pH, 2 setups)
  2. 8. Micro-spectrophotometry and micro-spectrofluorometry (under construction)
  3. 9. Laser velocimetry microscope (streaming velocity)
  4. 10. Fourier-Interferometric Image Analysis (FIBA), i.e. multicolor video microscopy
  5. 11. Cell electrophoresis microscope
  6. 12. Dual-beam interference microscope
  7. 13. Dynamic Phase Microscopy (DPM), (for measurement of surface profile or refractive index dynamics, 2 setups)
